Saturday Night Live
Ben here. It’s been a fun run events for us here at Kollo Media. Saturday, we launched our newest show BAD COUSINS (Spotify, Apple Podcasts, web) with some audio I cut out of Episodes 1 and 2 and then had a panel chat. We had myself, Matan Kaminer, Guli Dolev-Hashiloni, Muahammad Jabali, and Yael Attia discussing some of the central ideas in BAD COUSINS - and the audience got to challenge them and pitch in.
Because let’s be honest: The panel is always just a way to give people something to talk about for the rest of the event, and hopefully, beyond. A way to share a few impulses, inputs, goodie bags of ideas and perspectives to walk away with.
Which is, of course, exactly what we at Kollo Media want to make with all our audiobooks and shows and events. The feeling of walking away with new ideas, with important ideas, and with curiosity to explore more about them.
If you missed Saturday night or the BBC live listening event at Chapters bookstore, I hope to see you at one of the next events!
And by the way, we were at the soft launch of Chapters yesterday - it looks amazing. We’re going to be spending a lot more time there soon, so give them a follow and see what we’re planning…

Audience participation: high. Credit: Sofie Szabó

Podcasting With Kids
A few weeks ago, PodFest Berlin provided a great place to have our first ever podcasting with kids workshop. It was just for fun, and we ended up with 12 kids and about 6 audio pieces at various levels of “finished” - all in 2ish hours. Here are some takeaways I wanted to capture for the future:
Kids are incredibly creative when it comes to format. They don’t care about efficiency.
Kids don’t always want to be in the spotlight. Fair! Next time I will remember to offer different roles like music, editing, and scripting for those who don’t want to record.
Kids have a vision you sometimes have to tease out. Getting started was the hardest part. But once we got some preliminary ideas structured out (e.g. what about a Beginning, Middle, and End) you could see the ideas crystallizing right before their eyes, it was awesome.
Kids love gear. It’s quite fun playing with microphones and iPads and audio interfaces and recorders and even synthesizers and sequencers.
Kids are models of collaboration. Ok, not always. But it was cool to see some groups form in surprising ways and, just like in real life, we should support that.
